Travel back in time and experience Pioneer and Dakota life in the 1800s!
Gibbs Farm Virtual Field Trips: 2020-2021
Gibbs Farm is excited to announce that while we have made the decision to not have on-site field trips this fall, we do have virtual field trip options available:
Each virtual tour is approximately 70 minutes in length. You may select the Dakota or Pioneer tours for $30/classroom or both for $45/classroom. Educators will have access to these video tours for two weeks. Along with access to these tours, you will also receive an educator supplemental guide as well as the opportunity to submit questions from your students (regarding the virtual field trip) to be answered in a prerecorded custom Q&A video from Gibbs Farm staff. These videos are in English and captioned in English as well. Other languages to come.
The Dakota Tour: Gibbs Farm staff will lead your students through the seasonal life of the Dakota people of Cloud Man’s village as experienced by Jane Gibbs in the 1830s.
The Pioneer Tour: Site Manager Sammy Nelson will show your students the historic Gibbs Farmhouse and Stoen Schoolhouse and discuss what life was like for the Gibbs Family.
Watch a promo of these tours here:
Additional Activity Add-Ons: We are offering two different craft activities to go with each tour, a Fabric Quilt Square Activity or a Dakota-inspired Beaded Bracelet. The supplies and instructions would be sent to teachers/schools for use in the classroom. Teachers would also be provided with a link to an instructional video and contextual information about the craft and how it related to Dakota or Pioneer history. The cost for each activity is $1.50/students plus the cost of shipping to your school. If your school is within 10 miles of Gibbs Farm, we can coordinate in-person delivery for no charge. This activity can be selected as a program of its own or can be combined with the selection of a virtual field trip tours.
Please email email@example.com to book your virtual tour or activity add-on.
