Gibbs Museum Family Day at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival

Come make crafts, shop, and enjoy entertainment on the Main Stage in the Cortile of Landmark Center, featuring a special presentation on the History of Ice Palaces, by noted Ice Palace Historian, Bob Olsen.

Research Resources

The Ramsey County Historical Society Research Center contains many items that pertain to the St. Paul Winter Carnival.

The
Research Center is open to the public Monday through Thursday between 10:00am and 4:00pm. 

KENNETH WRIGHT WINTER CARNIVAL PHOTOS 1937-1979

Kenneth Wright was the official photographer for the Winter Carnival from 1937 thru 1979.

ELLERBE/WINTER CARNIVAL COLLECTION 1985-1986
1 box (10x12x5)
Material consists of correspondence and news clipings from Ellerbe regarding their construction of a Winter Carnival Ice Palace.

CHARBONEAU (ELAINE) WINTER CARNIVAL COLLECTION  1939 - 1991
1 box (10 x 12 x 3)
Material includes of typed appearance schedules on which she has made handwritten comments about some of the events; newspaper clippings of her time in the Senior Royalty; a 16mm film reel about the 1938-1939 Winter Carnival; certificates of achievement; typed correspondence to her; and programs of events in which she participated or attended.

WALLACE BOSS PAPERS 1926-1961

Material includes Winter Carnival materials of Wallace Boss as King Boreas: scrapbooks, correspondence, programs, magazines, certificates. 

MARTHA WILLIUS CLAUSSEN PAPERS 1868-1968

Material includes newspaper clippings and some handwritten and typewritten correspondence and notes about historical events. A few items about St. Paul organizations and events, ie. Winter Carnival and Schubert Club.
