The Gibbs Museum Back to School program offers a unique field trip for home-schooled children. This exciting three-hour history immersion program gives 2nd through 6th grade-level children the opportunity to experience what learning was like in a nineteenth-century country schoolhouse.

Children travel back in time...

  • Wear period costumes and sit in nineteenth-century school desks.

  • Learn the 3Rs the way children did long ago.

  • Write on slate boards with slate pencils.
